Supporting body for knee orthoses or knee joint supports
The invention relates to a supporting body for knee braces or knee braces, in the form of a rail extending along the lower leg and this partially comprehensive, which connected at the upper end with an orthotic joint or a joint of the knee joint support and at the bottom End is provided with an at least the heel receiving foot part.
Such constructions are known in many embodiments. For example, CA 2543217 A discloses a leg orthosis which provides a post extending along the thigh and lower leg to a foot portion. The support structure may be fixed to the thigh and lower leg by bandages which entirely encompass these leg sections, but which results in different fixation strength depending on the degree of movement of the muscular tension in the leg.
The object of the present invention is a construction in which the mobility of the leg is impaired as little as possible in the event of an optimal support effect.
To achieve this object, the invention provides that at the upper end of the rail two attachment sites for the knee orthosis or the knee joint supports are arranged laterally of the leg, which in turn pass into a section running down the leg along the leg, which in turn above the ankle area again merges into two laterally of the leg connecting parts to the foot part.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the tibial segment is curved or bent around the leg, so that the leg is covered by the portion over part of its circumference.
Another embodiment is additionally characterized in that a joint is provided in each case for the pivotable connection between the tibial section and the foot part in the connection parts below the ankle height.
Advantageously, it is provided that the axis of the joints in the connecting parts on the foot outside is further in the direction of the heel than on the inside of the foot.
According to the invention, a support carcass may also be further characterized in that the orthotic joint or the joint of the knee joint support and the splint are connected to one another via two monocentric joints whose axes are oriented substantially in the plane of flexion movement of the knee joint. 2:
WY-3414 AT
Yet another embodiment of the invention provides that the orthotic joint and the joint of the knee joint support and the rail are connected to each other via two joint elements, the rotational movement between the support body and the orthotic joint or joint of the knee joint support to allow for the axis of the lower leg.
In this case, an advantageous variant is characterized in that each articulated element consists of two sections guided into and onto each other along a circular segment track, wherein the circular segments of both articulation elements belong to a circle with center in the central region of the leg.
A further embodiment of the invention is expediently characterized in that a device for adjusting the distance between the orthotic joint or joint of the knee joint support and the tibial splint is provided at at least one of the attachment sites, preferably at both attachment sites.
Preferably, the monocentric joints are arranged above the joint elements for the rotational movement.
Also, the or each device for adjusting the distance can be arranged below each provided joint or joint element.
In the following description, the invention will be explained in more detail, also with reference to a specific embodiment, but these embodiments do not represent any restriction.
The drawing figure shows a view of an embodiment of a support body according to the invention.
According to the invention, the support body 1 comprises a rail 2 extending along the lower leg and partially encompassing it, which rail is connected at the upper end to an orthotic joint or a joint of a knee joint support (not shown). At the bottom of an at least the heel receiving foot part 3 is movably mounted.
In order to optimally support the weight of the wearer and the load during use, two attachment sites 4 for the knee orthosis or the knee joint supports are provided at the upper end of the splint 2, which are arranged laterally of the leg. From these attachment points 4, two lateral branches 5 of the support body 1 extend laterally downwards and forwards along the leg and merge into the portion of the rail 2 running down the leg along the leg which advantageously curves or kinks around the leg is so that the leg is covered over part of its circumference by the rail 2, but the rear area of the leg remains free. The rail 2 is located at the front with its preferably slightly padded

WY-3414 AT inside directly on the tibial bone. Preferably, this section is made in one piece with the two lateral branches 5. As a result, the necessary rigidity can be ensured with a lightweight construction.
Above the ankle region, the splint 2 likewise divides into two connecting parts 6 extending laterally of the leg to the foot part 3. The connecting parts 6 are advantageously anatomically outwardly buckled outwardly in accordance with the ankle joint.
In the connecting parts 6 below the ankle height in each case a joint 7 is provided, via which the foot part 3 is pivotally mounted on the support body 1. The joints 7 thus come to lie about 30 to 70 mm, preferably about 55mm, above the sole of the foot part 3. Furthermore, it is provided that the axis of the joints 7 are oriented such that it is offset on the foot outside further in the direction of the heel than on the inside of the foot. From the rear end of the foot part 3, on which rests the heel, the axis of the joints on the foot outside about 40 to 70 mm, preferably about 55mm, offset to the front and on the inside of the foot for another 10 to 20 mm, preferably 15 mm, after offset in front.
The orthotic joint or the joint of the knee joint support and the lateral branches 5 can be connected to one another via two monocentric joints 8 whose axes are oriented essentially in the plane of the flexion movement of the knee joint. Additionally or alternatively, between the orthotic joint or joint of the knee joint support and the lateral branches 5 of the support body 1 via two joint elements 9 may be connected to each other, the rotational movement between the support body 1 and the orthotic joint or the joint allow the knee joint support or their attachment points 4 about the axis of the lower leg. Each of these hinge elements 9 consists of two sections, which are mutually movable, namely, guided into each other or to each other along a circular segment track, wherein the circular segments of both joint elements 9 belong to a circle centered in the central region of the leg. Preferably, the monocentric joints 8 are arranged above the joint elements 9 for the rotational movement.
In addition or as an alternative to the two abovementioned joints 8, 9, the support body 1 can be provided with a device for adjusting the distance between the orthotic joint or joint of the knee joint support and the tibial splint 2 on at least one of the two branches 5, preferably of course on both Branches 5, be provided. An example of such a device is shown in the drawing figure and comprises on each branch 5 two guide pins 10 which extend between the end of the lateral branch 5 of the support body 1 and the overlying structure, here the hinge element 9, and
WY-3414 AT the two parts 5, 9 linearly lead to each other. The adjustment of the distance between the joint element 9 and the lateral branch 5 is accomplished via an adjusting screw 11 which engages with opposite threads in the two parts 5, 9. The or each device 10, 11 for adjusting the distance can be arranged below each provided joint 8 or joint element 9.
